The Taiwanese Kid from the Cirque

From three, four stories high, he’d front flip down, stand up, and balance on a moving bike. A lot of people think of circus stunts as risky and challenging the impossible, but Hsing-Ho Chen believes that the most important part is facing your fears. A lot of problems come from fear, and a lot of discrimination comes from ignorance. Hsing-Ho Chen participated in TAIWANfest 2014, and since then has grown stronger and adheres to the circus philosophy of “improving bit by bit everyday”. He has travelled around the world, observing different circuses to bring back to Taiwan to share. Due to COVID-19, this time he will share with you how to overcome your fears and keep your mind open to things you don’t understand!

Circus performers and promoters that previously worked on the Cirque du Soleil stage had brought circus over to Taiwan. Hsing-Ho Chen’s passion for circus allows him to take more challenges. He first saw Cirque du Soleil when he was 17 years old, which piqued his interest in circus. Ten years of practice later, the 27 year old got an official contract at Cirque du Soleil and was the only Taiwanese to travel to Las Vegas since its creation. There he learned the importance of teamwork through experience. After leaving the group, he has actively established a circus platform in Taiwan in recent years. He uses his past experiences, and invites famous circus performers from around the world to come to Taiwan and inspire each other and promote Taiwan’s circus to the world. In addition, a circus base has been set up to let children to experience the philosophy of life through tumbling, handstands, and other circus activities.
