Sangeeta Wylie
Actress / Playwright
The Story of the Boat People by a South-Asian Canadian
My father lives by this mantra: “If we understand someone, we don’t judge them. And if we judge them, we don’t understand them.” How did Sangeeta Wylie go from being a dentist in Toronto to an actor and playwright based in Vancouver writing a story about the Boat People? How do you perceive identity? The more knowledge you have of other cultures, the more you learn about your own and the connections they have to each other. Join us as we have a conversation with Sangeeta about her latest project – We the Same – based on the true story of a mother and her 6 children and their journey from Vietnam to Canada.
Sangeeta Wylie is an actress and playwright from Vancouver, Canada. Coming from a career in dentistry, Wylie is known for her roles in Fusion Generation (2018), Haters Back Off (2016), and Beeba Boys (2015). She is currently working on a play called “We the same”, a true story of a mother and her 6 children on their journey as boat people to Canada in 1979.
